Writing essays requires a little more work than writing blog posts, but it also gives me a chance to really shape and express my thoughts.

With us coming closer and closer to Election Day I have been asked to expound upon my views of the political arena.  Honestly I am not a good enough typist to get everything I think and believe written down before November 4th.  Therefore, I will summarize as best I can.

I will start where I believe we as a nation need to focus our energy.  There are actually a few points that need to be focused on.  They are, in no particular order, foreign policy, energy, social issues (health care), and the economy.  Like I said there is a lot more out there but for the sake of abridgement I will only write about these few things.

Our foreign policy has been flawed for a long time.  There is a much too unknown truth out there that isn’t brought up in the public forum.  This may be because many Americans wouldn’t be able to understand it or because it doesn’t shine the best light on our country.  Truth be told, there are some things that are less than flattering that need to be done to keep our nation tops in the world.  However, some of these activities are reprehensible and slander our nation’s international standing.  The U.S. government has been supporting under the radar organizations solely to benefit the interests of the United States of America since the end of the Second World War.  This may be a necessary evil but it is also the cause of our fair share of problems.

Since the fall of the USSR, the United States has been able to use military might as the main “negotiating” tool with respect to foreign policy.  There is no fear of reprisal by the Soviets so we have carte blanche to do what we want.  We have become more apt to strong arm than use diplomacy.  This is very evident in the “Bush Doctrine” that dumbass Sarah Palin didn’t know about.  Are you beginning to see where that question had some relevance?  Our foreign policy is such that it allows us to greedily get what serves our interest with little repercussions from the outside world.

On order to get some sort of credit back in the international community we need to stray away from these kinds of foreign relations.  Who is going to get us there?  Is it going to be Mr. “We can stay in Iraq for the next hundred years”?  I doubt it.  Oh but wait, we need to focus on our national security and only the “true defender” of our country.  What is national security?  I read something that might shine a little light on this situation.  Howard Zinn addressed this same question, “has our security been enhanced by the war in Iraq?  Are we more secure now and what is security?  Is security gotten by military prowess or do we need health security, employment security and all sorts of security for children and people in trouble.  That’s national security”.

I know all of that sounds socialist and crazy liberal right?  The ironic part of this is that the right wing Republicans that work so hard to keep capitalism feeding their pockets the focal point of our government are also the most Godly.  This is strange to me because if anyone should understand philanthropy it should be a Christian.  But these Republicans keep on with the rich shouldn’t support the poor selfish bullshit out of one side of their mouths and on the other articulate their good Christian morals about abortion and gay rights.  I recall Jesus being a bit of a socialist.  Mark 6:30 – 44, Jesus made enough food for the multitude of people that came to learn from him because they had gone without for so long.  He had compassion on them because they were like sheep without a Sheppard.  So are many of citizens of our great nation.  Remember “united we stand, divided we fall” not “divided we stand united we fall”?

See the focus needs to be on progression not separation.  There have been too many years of separation chipping away at the bedrock of our democracy.  The campaigns of fear and repression that have taken the positive energy out of hearts of too many Americans need to be replaced by hope that can and will inspire the American people to continue forging forward continuing to be the greatest country in the world.

We need to be actively pursuing new technologies that will not only provide a new fuel source but also create an entirely new work force in a lucrative and growing field.  This totally ignorant and retarded rally cry by the McCain camp to drill baby drill is the single dumbest fucking thing I’ve ever heard.  Yeah it is a temporary fix to a long term problem.  More drilling isn’t going to do anything but make the problem worse.   How do these assholes not see this?  How do voters think this is a good idea?  We are already paying over $3/gallon, how much worse does it have to get before we find a new fuel source?  This is only part of the problem too.  What about the environment?  If you ask some of these jackasses there isn’t a climate change or a problem with the environment at all.  With an outlook that fails to recognize real and serious problems how will be competitive in the global arena?  We need someone that realizes the problems that face us now and in the future.

The same can be said for the war on terror.  Which terror are we at war with?  I am still perplexed that we are involved in a war in Iraq.  We were baited into this war and we really should have seen it coming.  I mean, this was put together by the guy that 18 months prior stole the election.  Now rather than get us out of this mess and concentrate where the real threats are like Sen. Obama wants to do, Sen. McCain wants us to stay there until we are victorious.  What is victory?  Militarily speaking victory has been ours for years.  But wait, I forgot, we cannot have our Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and Airmen just walk away, that would be defeat.  Maybe they were defeated by our government.  Maybe they were sent into a place to do a mission that didn’t have an end in the plan.  Planning is the most important and basic part of a military operation and the Bush administration (Rumsfeld) left this out of the equation.  Let’s get moving in the direction of diplomacy get the Iraqis on their own two feet.  Military force should be used to attack and kill as many Taliban and Al Qaeda as possible.  That is where the threats to the United States reside and that is what we should have concentrated on from the beginning.  We got duped.  It’s time to stop being the dopes.

We are trying to compete in a world that will pass us by if we continue on with the status quo.  Everything I hear out of John McCain’s mouth is some way to justify keeping the course.  How do so many people not see that we are the only fucking people on this course?  The rest of the world has us in their targets and we think that staying the course is a good idea.  We need to get back to innovating and creating technologies that will be marketable to the rest of the world.  This will secure our place on the top.

But there are many changes that need to take place at home too.  The government has deregulated Wall Street so much that the capitalists have run away with all of the money.  The income distribution in this country is moving so far out of proportion that there isn’t going to be any money for anyone else soon.  We are turning into the feudal times again.  The lords control everything and the peasants work just to stay alive.  The wealth gap has the CEOs of major corporations making $250 for every $1 of the average worker.  That is fucking crazy.  The top 1% of the wealthiest people possesses more wealth than the bottom 90% combined.  Who is worried about their taxes increasing?  If you don’t make more than $250, 000 you don’t have to worry about a tax increase under Barack Obama’s plan.  Less than 5% of the American people earn more than $100k so that isn’t many of the people reading this.  There are 400 billionaires in the United States.  If I made a billion dollars in a year I’d have no problem paying my share of taxes.  It’s not like they’re going to go hungry.  It’s the greed that persuades our government to continue to pass tax plans that rip off the ever shrinking middle class and keep the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.

The health care crisis is another difference that I cannot figure out how the American people don’t understand this.  The plan that the republicans have will end up fucking everyone except the insurance companies.  You will get $5000 credit so you can get your own health care, and then they’ll tax it on you.  The only thing that you can get with $5000 is more poverty.  We are the only western country that does not provide health care to its citizens.  That should say something.

You know, John McCain isn’t a bad person, in fact I think he is an amazing American but there he isn’t himself in this election.  He is the guy for the Republican Party and he has to get the republican vote which means he has to adopt the republican views and say the republican lines.  He is no maverick; he is a fucking sell out.  It has to say something about the GOP that the man that didn’t give into the Viet Cong has given in to the GOP.  I mean the VC made McCain look like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and he doesn’t give in but he will do anything to get into the White House.  I mean look at his running mate.

Sarah Palin, who heard of this woman before September 4th?  Let’s be honest with each other, this woman isn’t the best person for the job.  She’s not even on the list of the top 100 best people for this job.  She is nothing more than a cheerleading demagogue.  She is spoon fed every word that she says by the McCain camp.  She has time and time again tried to link Barack Obama a domestic terrorist and convince Americans that Barack Obama is in fact a terrorist himself.  This is the bitch that gave kudos to the Alaskan Independence Party and said, “I support your cause”.  They are secessionists.  They want Alaska to become its own country and Palin is on board with this.  If this is the next VP we are in some serious trouble.  I can understand why she was appointed but I still think it is lunacy.  She seems like a normal lady, hockey mom, whatever and she is attractive enough that they hope that people will vote for McCain because the voters want to fuck her.  We should have learned this lesson when a bunch of jerk offs voted for George Bush because he seemed like a cool guy to have a beer or five with.  The President of the United States needs to be someone extraordinary, like a Nobel Prize winner.  Some hockey mom that landed herself in the middle of the Presidential race isn’t the answer the American people need.

She showed her ass on TV when the McCain camp got her interviews on primetime TV and then she “made up ground” because during the debate she handled herself well.  NO SHE DIDN’T!  She answered questions that she wanted to be asked of her not the actual questions that were asked.  How is that a victory?  That’s like if the Dallas Cowboys decided that they weren’t doing well and started playing basketball in the middle of the game.  That’s not a victory.

How is it that we set up a democracy in Iraq and Afghanistan and we can’t come up with a way to get the votes counted in the United States?  I hope that we can get this one right.  I mean that in a few ways.  I hope that we can make sure that there isn’t any voter fraud and I also hope that we elect the right guys for the job.  That’s right guys.  Obama and Biden are the best team for the America of today and the America of tomorrow.
